Clear the Dissonance: 10 Days of Introspective Writing

Most of us are held back from everything we want to be because of something we're not even aware of - our own thoughts.

But what if you could change your thought patterns? What if you could eliminate...

  • Self-doubt
  • Procrastination
  • Stress
  • Anxiety
  • Overwhelm
  • Fatigue
  • Guilt

Introspective writing will do just that. Over the next 10 days, you'll learn writing tools you can use to clear your mind, increase your focus, take heroic action, achieve peace of mind, and live the life you always wanted to as a music teacher.

Video lesson

To get the most out of this course, we'll spend some time talking about your writing setup and how to plan your writing time. Once we're all set with tools and time, we're going to prepare for the 10-day challenge with a writing warmup - the thought dump.

Video lesson

In this first lesson, we're going to start developing the tools to slay our inner demons and get the most out of introspective writing. It all starts with getting comfortable with being authentic and honest with ourselves.

Video lesson

In this lesson, we're going to define the feelings that bring you down on a daily basis, and then take a look at what life would be like to be free of this. This will give us a clear focus to work towards with introspective writing.

Video lesson

We all have moments when someone does something and that sets off an emotional "trigger." In this lesson, we'll explore a tool you can use when this "hot" moment occurs so you can not only get a handle on your emotions, but also plan a healthy, constructive course of action for your next steps.

Video lesson

In this lesson, we're going to flip things with a positive focus. But this is more than your typical "gratitude writing" prompt. In this lesson, you'll focus on how your life is already rich and exciting without needing to change a thing.

Video lesson

In this lesson, we're going to begin delving into the inner critic - that voice inside us that tells us we're going to fail at certain things. In this first inner critic prompt, we're going to work to understand what triggers our inner critic and how it manifests itself. Because once we understand the critic, we can begin working with it.

Video lesson

In this exercise, we're going to continue our work with the inner critic by having a conversation with it. By having this conversation, you'll come to understand that its intentions are (believe it or not) positive.

Video lesson

Today, we're going to work on good at...feeling GOOD! By thinking about the positive aspects of your future in the present tense, you're going to allow yourself to take the most exciting, joyful feelings into your day.

Video lesson

In this exercise, we're going to use a combination of tools from previous lessons to bust through procrastination and start working on things we've been putting off.

Video lesson

We all have aspects of ourselves that are hidden in the shadows. Either because we've shoved them to the side, or because we didn't know they existed in the first place. This exercise will help you uncover them.

Video lesson

This is a great exercise to do once a year, or once every few years. You're going to describe an ideal day in your life 5 years from now. Prepare to gain some clarity!

About the Teacher

Jonathan Roberts

My name is Jonathan Roberts, and I'm a pianist and entrepreneur in the Boston area. Over the past four years, my work on personal development as a music teacher has had a profound impact on my professional and personal lives. I'm now on a mission to help other music teachers get off the emotional hamster wheel.
