Clear the Dissonance:
10 Days of Introspective Writing
Silence your inner critic.
Take heroic action.
Enjoy peace of mind.
Our thoughts can be our greatest adversaries. Learn how to finally turn off those inner critical voices that play in your head on repeat.
What if you could consistently take action on your most important goals? Whether it's opening your own studio or spending more time with your family. Learn how to get out of your own way, so building momentum becomes easy.
When you learn to accept yourself and eliminate negative self-talk, you get to enjoy your life in a way you couldn't before. It's what peaceful living is all about. And it will allow you to enjoy your teaching on a whole new level.
If you're like most music teachers (and people), you experience a fair amount of suffering from your own thoughts, emotions, and fears.
You know the inner voice I'm talking about. Questioning how effective your work as a teacher is. Wondering if you'll ever be good enough. Berating yourself for not being where you "should" be in life. Reminding you of your mess-ups every chance it can.
This is especially frustrating because you can't run away from your own thoughts. How can you teach with joy when you have this endless criticism in the back of your head? And that inner critic may be so sneaky, you don't even realize it's there.
Not Where You Want to Be in Life?

You probably already know what you need to do. So, why are you putting off taking that first step?
Many studies on procrastination have shown that the root cause is fear. But fear of what?
It may be fear of failure. It may be fear of success. But most of the time, it's the fear that comes with your own criticism. Fear of the voice that will say, "Why did you even bother trying this in the first place?"

Most of our problems are self-inflicted

While we all have problems, most of our suffering comes from our own mind. As creatives and teaching artists who work with a lot of people, we experience this even more profoundly.
I'm sure you've been there. You're denied a raise. You lose a student. An administrator makes a nasty remark about your work. Or maybe you put off going to the gym or spending time with your kids.
You may look at your life and think, "Is this all there is?" Your mind starts on a downward spiral. Telling you you're not good enough, how things will always be stressful, and maybe this wasn't the right career choice. And no matter how hard you fight these emotions, it just leads to more anxiety, negative self-talk, and shame.
I've been there. In fact, I was there for many years. But I also know, it's possible to choose a different path.
Now, Imagine Being at Peace With Yourself

Imagine waking up in the morning ready to seize the day. You know there will be challenges, but that's okay. It won't change how you see yourself. You'll look forward to the day ahead. You'll be excited to be you. And no matter what happens, you will be kind and loving to yourself.
You're moving your career forward. You find yourself taking daily action towards your goals. You've started that new website. You've asked for that raise. You've started looking for the better job. You have an excitement for your work that makes you love what you do.
Your mind is at peace. It feels impossible in today's day and age. But, if you use the right tools and tactics, you can silence the voice of the inner critic so you can focus on what's most important.

Who is Jonathan Roberts?
I'm Jonathan Roberts, and I'm a pianist and music school owner in the Boston Area.
While music was always my thing, I suffered from negative self-talk for most of my life while being totally unaware of it.
I procrastinated so much, I was lucky to finish school. I struggled standing up for myself with anyone. And, I probably suffered from a touch of depression.
This came to a climax when I suffered a mental collapse about four years ago.
But through writing, meditation, and loads of other self-development work, I've learned how to clear the noise, regain my focus, discover peace, and make exciting things happen in my work and home lives.
Through my work here on Musiciative, I'm on a mission to help other music teachers do the same thing.
Introducing
Clear the Dissonance
Training yourself to become aware of your thought patterns and emotions is difficult. And not doing so holds you back from everything you could be as a music teacher who wants to enjoy work and life.
The easiest way to do this is writing. That's why we created this 10-day program.
Can Something as Simple as Writing Change Everything?
Starting a deliberate writing practice can transform your life. It will help you organize your thoughts. It will help you deal with the daily challenges that come up in your life.
And most importantly, it will help you discover the causes of your inner turmoil and achieve peace of mind at home and in your work teaching.
As music teachers and mentors, we owe it to our students and ourselves to take this step for peace, clarity, and focus.
Here are just a few of the introspective writing exercises you'll learn about in this program.
Radical Self-Honesty
Willing away negative feelings only makes them worse. This is called "toxic positivity." Instead, you'll learn how to get your deepest negative thoughts out in the open so you can process and get rid of them.
The Procrastination Short-Circuit
Most of us procrastinate because of fear. But fear of what? This exercise will help you uncover your fears and boost your excitement around taking action so you can stop procrastination in its tracks.
Inner Critic Intervention
This exercise will show you exactly how your inner critic functions through an internal dialogue. You'll learn more about why you think the way you do. And you'll finally be able to use this to your advantage rather than to your detriment.
Learned Optimism
You don't need to wait until the mood strikes to feel optimistic about the days, weeks, months, or even years ahead. This exercise will help you boost your positivity, even in the worst of times. Studies have shown that this practice will change your outlook from "glass half-empty" to "glass half-full."
